The Vuelta Ride
Cycling record! The Vuelta ride (August/September 2018)
I was the first woman in history to cycle every kilometer of one of the toughest professional races in the world, the Vuelta a España, just a few hours before the pros.
In total, it was 3058 km, 129 riding hours, 49337 meters of altitude in 21 stages. That's a daily average of 145 km, 6 hours on the bike and 2349 meters of altitude.
I loved every single minute of it. Waking up at 4:30am, seeing the sunrise at 7:40am, talking to new friends, crossing the finish line at 2pm, driving to the next hotel, the local cuisine and every moment of rich, intense experience.
What a success!
My main role in this project was to inspire people to take on their own challenge. With over 200 people riding parts with me and coverage from over 50 media outlets around the world, this project has exceeded all expectations.
